Mosquito Activity (Scale from 0 to 5)
  • We received an average of .45 inches of rain last week.
  • Mosquito activity is a 2 for the entire city. There has been no Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) or West Nile Virus (WNV) detected in the area this year.
Surveillance
  • Ten CDC style traps were set this week and a total of 1,025 mosquitoes were caught, with an average of 103 mosquitoes per trap night. This is up slightly from last week. Most roadside ditches have dried up and are not producing mosquitoes, catch basins and containers are the major mosquito breeders at this time.
  • Part of the increase in mosquitoes this week was in the Crystal Lake and Mayflower Park areas of the city. Targeted adult spraying operations in this area have been conducted. We will continue to monitor and treat as needed.
Service Requests
  • We received no complaint calls about mosquitoes this week.
Control
  • Adult spray operations have begun for this season. Information about spray activities is available on the Mosquito Spray Hotline at 393-8666 press 1 when prompted. Please not the spray hotline is a recoded message, to report a complaint you must call 393-8666 and speak with the operator.
