Clean Community Commission
Our Mission
The Clean Community Commission is charged with initiating, planning,
directing and coordinating programs for litter control and prevention, as
well as; beautification in Portsmouth. As a Commission we encourage the
planting and preservation of key landscaped gateways and promote public
awareness and participation in the improvement of the environment by
creating and maintaining better parks, public spaces, waterways, wetlands
and rivers, streets, and highways. Additionally, the Commission will
advise and recommend plans to promote Portsmouth as a “Clean Winner” in
the Hampton Roads community by maintaining open dialogue with key city
departments and officials.

Goals

Establish an educational liaison with
Portsmouth Public Schools, private and home school co-ops

Increase involvement with youth groups

Increase level of civic organizations
support and participation in community clean up to more than 50%
